Team Leader focused on cell line engineering for the discovery of antibodies and bi/multispecific antibodies. The successful candidate is a highly motivated, interactive, and creative individual who possesses substantial experience in mammalian cell engineering, cell culture, antibody expression and purification and a strong interest in developing biotherapeutics for oncology and autoimmune diseases. S/he will be an experienced leader with expertise in leveraging mammalian antibody expression platforms and engineering cell-lines to facilitate discovery research.

Job description

  • Establish a highly functioning cell technology group
  • Lead cell line engineering activities including gene editing technologies
  • Lead antibody expression technologies to select antibodies and bispecific/multispecific antibodies for discovery and support projects
  • Responsible for expression vector design and the optimization and characterization of cell lines and cell banks to support stable CHO pool development as a prerequisite to candidate selection for industrialization.
  • Guide scientists and team to address complex processes and transition hits into clinical leads
  • Interface with multiple discovery project and matrix teams across the organization
  • Accomplish goals under project team timelines
  • Effectively manage projects and resources to maximize progress
  • Effectively communicate research progress and opportunities to senior management and scientific advisors
  • Publish research in high-tier journals and present team's work at international meetings
  • Build a culture that embraces scientific excellence, continuous learning, and increasing team's ability to deliver novel drug candidates

Profile description

  • Ph.D. in Molecular Biology, Cell Biology, Biochemistry, or related field with at least 6 years of relevant industrial experience in a similar role
  • Extensive experience in leading a small group of scientists to make high quality antibody cell lines and tool cell lines for discovery is required
  • Proven track record in the following: vector biology, codon optimization, cell line genetic characterization, and vector construction
  • Experience in stable CHO pool development based on transposons and cell engineering/gene editing techniques including CRISPR/Cas9 and others
  • Strong expertise in mammalian cell culture (small to large scale) and transfection methods
  • Strong experience with PCR, mutagenesis, Next Generation Sequencing (NGS), DNA handling software, and bioinformatics tools
  • Strong knowledge of antibody analytical methods
  • Excellent time management and organizational skills
  • Demonstrated ability to work in a multidisciplinary biologics discovery team
