The Research Director will be an integral part of a dedicated secretariat team and collaborate closely with various stakeholders including representatives, facilitators, working groups, project managers, and external partners to ensure the completion of scientific research initiatives. The role involves overseeing the scientific research program, fostering engagement within the academic community, and focusing on issues related to human health and the environment, particularly those associated with the tire life cycle.

Key Responsibilities:

  • Cultivating and managing an academic network to gather expert knowledge and ensure fact-based communication.
  • Ensuring the neutrality and scientific integrity of research approaches through collaboration with assurance groups and advisory panels.
  • Supervising the progress of scientific research programs and managing project managers.
  • Collaborating with stakeholders to develop study designs, set objectives, and optimize deliverables.
  • Working with industry stakeholders to align on technical needs and outcomes of research projects.
  • Facilitating reporting and reviews at various levels and synthesizing knowledge for broader dissemination.
  • Representing the organization in scientific forums and engagements.
  • Proactively identifying and planning for emerging research topics.
  • Managing and aligning multiple research co-chairs from different organizations.



The ideal candidate will possess advanced knowledge of research governance and demonstrate strong management and communication skills.
They will play a pivotal role in driving impactful and relevant scientific research initiatives while ensuring transparency and engagement across stakeholders.

Description du profil

  • A PhD or MD in chemistry, toxicology, materials, chemical engineering, engineering or environmental sciences.
  • Min. 10 years of working experience in management of research projects or scientific communication, in private sector or academia.
  • Experience in managing or coordinating complex research programs either in the private sector or academic world with a wide range of stakholders.
  • Global mindset coupled with hands-on experience working across geographies,
  • Good communicator with a diplomatic approach, good listening skills and ability to find consensus and to gather around a common goal
  • Experience in working and collaborating across time zones, with multiple cultures and languages
  • English fluent is a must have. Japanese is a clear plus. German, Italian, French is a nice to have.
  • Willingness to travel internationally (20%-30%)
  • Ability to commute 2 to 3 times a week to the office either in Geneva or Amsterdam.
  • Only candidates with EU work permit can be considered.
