We are looking for a Head of IVD Products for one of our medtech clients based in Western Switzerland. If you are ready to take on a new challenge, this offer is for you.

The Head of IVD Products is responsible for bridging Research & Development and Manufacturing Operations to ensure successful development, industrialization, transfer, and scale-up of new products and processes.

As the operational lead for new product introduction, this role serves as both the "Voice of Operations" within R&D and the "Voice of R&D" within Operations. The position drives manufacturability, quality, scalability, compliance, and cost efficiency across the product development lifecycle.

The role also leads the company's pilot manufacturing facility, enabling rapid development, testing, optimization, and transfer of innovative products and technologies into commercial production.

Your Responsibilities:

Leadership & Strategy

  • Lead, coach, and develop the Product & Technology Transfer team.
  • Establish clear departmental objectives, priorities, and performance metrics.
  • Manage departmental resources, budgets, equipment, and staffing to maximize operational effectiveness.
  • Develop and execute the Operations strategy for new product launches and technology transfers.
  • Foster a culture of innovation, collaboration, accountability, and continuous improvement.

Product Development & Industrialization

  • Partner closely with R&D teams to ensure new products are designed for manufacturability, quality, scalability, and cost effectiveness.
  • Define manufacturing requirements and ensure they are incorporated into product development activities.
  • Drive successful product scale-up from development through commercial manufacturing.
  • Develop robust manufacturing processes and quality control methods to support commercialization.
  • Lead pre-launch activities and ensure manufacturing readiness for new product introductions.

Technology Transfer

  • Develop and continuously improve technology transfer methodologies and governance.
  • Define transfer strategies that align product design requirements with manufacturing capabilities.
  • Manage technology transfer projects across functions, ensuring delivery on time, within budget, and according to quality standards.
  • Facilitate effective communication and collaboration between development, quality, operations, engineering, and regulatory stakeholders.

Manufacturing Process Excellence

  • Provide technical leadership in process design, optimization, validation, and scale-up.
  • Identify and define Critical Process Parameters (CPPs) and implement appropriate process controls.
  • Develop and maintain process capability frameworks and manufacturability requirements.
  • Conduct scientific and technical evaluations to identify opportunities for process improvements and innovation.
  • Lead initiatives to reduce manufacturing costs while improving efficiency and product quality.

Pilot Manufacturing Facility Management

  • Lead daily operations of the pilot manufacturing facility ("Accelerator").
  • Evaluate process feasibility, stability, robustness, and scalability under conditions representative of commercial manufacturing.
  • Optimize pilot operations to support assay development and accelerate product development timelines.
  • Ensure effective utilization of pilot resources while preserving commercial production capacity.

Quality & Compliance

  • Ensure all activities comply with GMP, GDP, MDR, FDA, and applicable regulatory requirements.
  • Review and approve manufacturing process documentation and technology transfer packages.
  • Support investigations, change controls, CAPAs, and non-conformance activities.
  • Implement quality systems and controls that ensure consistent process performance and product quality.

External Collaboration & Innovation

  • Build strategic partnerships with universities, research institutes, suppliers, and external technology partners.
  • Assess emerging technologies and manufacturing innovations for commercial application.
  • Lead external collaborations that strengthen organizational capabilities and competitive advantage.

Your Profile:

  • MSc in Life Sciences, Engineering, Science, or equivalent.
  • Additional certifications in Project Management, Business Management, Lean Manufacturing, or Six Sigma.
  • 10-15+ years of experience within regulated manufacturing environments.
  • Significant experience in: Manufacturing process development, Bioprocess optimization, Assay and reagent development, Technology transfer
  • Proven leadership experience managing multidisciplinary teams and complex projects.
  • Strong track record of delivering successful product introductions and manufacturing scale-ups.
  • Experience working within MDR, FDA, or similarly regulated environments.
  • Fluent in English & in French
